Matching Fine Food and Wine to Perfection

Having been asked by many of his International Wine Championship clients to provide appropriate canapés to match wines being blind-tasted at these wonderful and hilarious events, it seemed only natural for Jack to create a different style of event which focuses equally on fine food and wine and matching the two to perfection.

Working closely with his friend, Hugh McGivern – occasional Chef to HRH Prince Charles, The King and Queen of Jordan, Presidents Clinton and Obama, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, to mention Hugh’s most illustrious clients - Jack and Hugh create a 6, 7 or 8-course tasting menu and match a variety of excellent and appropriate wines to enjoy with the dishes.

 Jack then runs through the wines course-by-course telling guests about their history, their place in the world of wine and telling stories and anecdotes, answering questions and chatting with guests.

If not too tied up in the kitchen, Hugh introduces the food and then Jack talks about each of the wines as they are being tasted, their grapes varieties, their regions, countries of origin and also ‘seismic shocks’ that relate to them as well as how and where they fit into the world of wine. He then lets the conversation bubble away until plates are cleared and Hugh produces the next dish, then it’s time to serve up and introduce the next wine.

 

These dinners can be held in clients’ offices or homes if they have the appropriate facilities or dry-hire events spaces such as Art Galleries.
